Harvard's The Crimson Declares Toni Morrison Was Wrong About America

The headline on every Ivy news rag today is unsurprisingly Barack Obama-centric, which can result in gross Obama fatigue if one reads these similarly worded articles in rapid succession.

However, The Crimson thankfully went the extra mile to differentiate their me-too piece from all the others by drudging up a particularly interesting quote from African-American poet and critically acclaimed novelist Toni Morrison:

Toni Morrison once said that Bill Clinton was “Blacker than any actual Black person who could ever be elected in our children’s lifetime.”

She was wrong.

Ouch – called out by The Crimson. That has to hurt.

Still, to Morrison’s credit, Bill Clinton was indeed the closest thing to a Black president America ever had – if you believe Chris Rock, that is. But, times have changed, and the racial tensions of American yore have clearly lessened over the decades.

Despite John McCain’s best efforts to stir up racial tensions, America proved to be above it, and now, our 44th President will be an African-American.

For this reason and this reason alone, we’re sure Morrison doesn’t mind being wrong.
