High School Football Star Travis Hawkins May Choose University of Maryland Today, Other Colleges Sigh In Disappointment

Today is the day for the big announcement. Which of the schools that have been heavily recruiting football player Travis Hawkins did he choose?

The 5-foot-11, 185-pound cornerback plays for Quince Orchard High School in Gaithersburg, Maryland. He was set to make decision today at 11 a.m. about a college, but so far there’s no word on the lucky school. His most recent finalists included Penn State, Maryland, Oregon and Michigan, though it seems likely Maryland is in his future. Wherever he goes, Hawkins is trying to recruit teammate Jason Ankrah to come with him.

On a side note, Hawkins is currently suffering from a sprained ankle, which will keep him out of the rest of the regular season, though he may be back on the field for the playoffs. Nevertheless, Maryland and the other schools clamoring for his attention don’t seem to mind the injury. What’s a little sprained ankle now for some football glory later?
