Remember the days of wanting to be Zack Morris and wanting to be with Kelly Kapowski? Remember looking for a best friend like Shawn Hunter and laughing at Cory Matthews? Remember those favorite shows of our childhood?
When they ended we were devastated. We watched them every week and then all of a sudden they were gone. Personally, I hoped for a long time that Full House would be back or that I'd get one more glimpse of the Fresh Prince's antics.
But maybe it's for the best that those television shows ended when they did. Life's tough and odds are, things may not have ended all peachy for the characters near and dear to our hearts. Let's take a moment and imagine just where these great groups of friends and family would be if they returned to the air today:
Boy Meets World
Last we left the gang: The married Cory and Topanga move to New York with Eric and Shawn joining them, while Jack and Rachel head to the Peace Corps and Angela goes to Europe with her father.
If the show returned now: Topanga and Cory would be divorced. They’ve only ever really dated each other, which, knowing Disney, means they’ve only ever had sex with each other. But, after watching Cory and Shawn continue to get even more suspiciously close, Topanga is driven to cheat. She moves out and Cory falls into Shawn’s arms. Eric fulfills the prophecy of the flash-forward episode and becomes a hermit named Mr. Plays With Squirrels. No one notices the change. Cory’s infant brother Joshua grows up to have Mr. Feeny as a teacher in every single grade and Mr. Feeny never ever dies.
Full House
Last we left the gang: The family comes together to help Michelle remember her life after she wakes up from a horseback riding accident induced amnesia.
If the show returned now: Michelle would be in the middle of a full-on identity crisis, having always felt like two different people occupying one place in life. All of the girls would still be living at home since they never managed to escape the overbearing nature of their caretakers. And in an art imitating life turn, Danny Tanner turns out to be a dirty old pervert, scarring Jesse and Becky’s twins for life and turning them towards a life of crime.
Sabrina the Teenage Witch
Last we left the gang: Hilda and Zelda move to the other realm, while Sabrina leaves Aaron at the altar to run off with Harvey.
If the show returned now: Sabrina would be in rehab. After Harvey notices some odd behavior (even for Sabrina) he checks her into Promises, where it turns out all these years the “teenage witch” was really just a teenage acid addict. All of her “magical powers” were really just drug-fueled hallucinations.
Saved by the Bell
Last we left the gang: There was a one-season spinoff with The College Years and a later spinoff with The New Class and even a TV movie special where Zack and Kelly get married and the whole crew reminisces about high school and college.
If the show returned now: Every episode would be a major life milestone like Zack and Kelly buy a house, Zack and Kelly get pregnant, Zack and Kelly have a baby, Zack and Kelly watch baby take his first steps. These landmark moments would require the gang to get together each time to talk about their high school days because nothing exciting has happened to any of the rest of them since then… except for Jessie who turned into a stripper.
Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
Last we left the gang: Hilary and Ashley move to New York so Hilary can host a talk show and Ashley can work on ads and her education. Carlton heads to Princeton while the rest of his family moves east too. Will meanwhile struggles to find his place.
If the show returned now: Will would eventually grow his musical talents and become a huge pop star. He’d then leverage that fame into a megawatt movie career and marry a famous actress, in order to create the ultimate power couple. Meanwhile, the Banks have gone broke and Carlton is forced to drop out. Fortunately, Will swoops in with his millions and billions of dollars and saves everyone, while joining a mysterious religion/cult.
