Invisibilia Heightens Internet Creepiness

The internet is creepy. Or at least it’s full of creepy stuff. The latest in creepy internet stuff is the Invisibilia page at TheManWhoFellAsleep.com, where the infamous Man Who Fell Asleep is replacing real people in photographs with black and white sketches of them. Why is it creepy? Well just check out that photo of the man and baby in bed. I think that’s enough of a visual.

The Man Who Fell Asleep would probably have some FOS explanation for why we’re creeped out, though it might not match his pretentious description of his internet art: “Maybe the pictures illustrate the idea that we all want to remove ourselves from life, and replace ourselves with fictional, self-created versions of ourself. We want to fictionalise our own existence, and impose order and narrative where there is none. Or maybe it's just tracing.”

Do I think The Man Who Fell Asleep is a serial killer? No. Do I think he’s as creepy as Salad Fingers creator David Firth? No. But Invisibilia is definitely weird.
