This Christmas people around the world will be asking for one thing: Model 271 brogues. Those are the infamous shoes hurled at President Bush during a press conference week ago.
 

While the Iraqi show-thrower Muntadhar al-Zaidi sits in jail, many Iraqis are hailing him as a hero and Ramazan Baydan is making a pretty profit.
 

Sales have soared for the Turkish shoemaker and his shoes were seen soaring by the whole world. In fact, Baydan’s had to hire an extra 100 employees to carry out the requests for 300,000 pairs of the shoes.
 

CNN reports:

According to the company, Model 271 shoes are exported to markets including Iraq, Iran, Syria and Egypt. Last week customers in Iraq ordered 120,000 pairs and some Iraqis offered to set up distribution companies for the shoe, Baydan told Bloomberg.

So while in the U.S. the iPod is the most popular holiday present, a little boy in Iraq is wishing for his own Model 271 brogues under the tree this year.
