Josh Jarboe, an incoming freshman at Oklahoma, has just lost his scholarship and his position as wide receiver on the football team. Even Jarboe’s 10th place ranking couldn’t help him out of the hot seat when Coach Bob Stoops found out that the player-to-be had been arrested earlier this year.
Cedar Groves High School all-star and highly scouted athlete, Jarboe was arrested in March on weapon charges and released shortly after. After the school's vice principal saw Jarboe handling a gun, he was expelled from school forcing him to complete his degree online. Jarboe would have gotten off free, if he hadn't posted a video on Youtube rapping and bragging about his weapon-stint with the law. Soon after the video's debut, school officials discovered it and began discussions of his future on the university's football team.
The University has decided that it was in the best interest of the program to keep this gun-slinging/rapper off the team. If school officials would have found out about Jarboe's arrest earlier, his acceptance into the university probably would not have happened so quickly. University officials are giving Jarboe a second chance, allowing him to stay at Oklahoma as long as he is on his best behavior.
