Join the Superhero Registry And You Too Can Pretend To Be A Lot Cooler Than You Really Are

Everyone wants to be Batman or Superman and some people are actually doing something about it. There’s a growing phenomenon of “real life” superheroes and you can find them on a superhero registry.

They wear costumes, do heroic deeds, and operate purely for personal motivation, rather than financial gain. It’s all part of the criteria. However, as appealing as doing heroic deeds is, how much do you want to bet the real draw is the costumes? Nothing’s quite as bad ass as a stretchy body suit. Oh yeah.

These ambitious citizens are everywhere – You can find Citizen Prime and Green Scorpion in Arizona, for instance. To locate the superheroes nearest you, check out the World Superhero Registry, where the MySpace pages of these decked out do-gooders are compiled. But be warned, not everyone (read: law enforcement) always appreciates an independent super-guy. The website warns:

This website deals with the actual incorporation of the superhero archetype into daily life. As a consequence of the complex and ever-changing nature of the legal system and the diverse and unusual activities that may be involved in such alternative lifestyles, some of the activities described herein may be in conflict with local laws in some areas. None of the creators of this web page specifically condone any of the described activities or the possession of any of the equipment related to those activities. We are not legal experts and lack the expertise and resources to research the legality of any of the practices of our members, or visitors.

So avoid the cops and save the world… but don’t forget your spandex.
