Judd Apatow Rumored to Take on "Ghostbusters 3"

There are whispers all around the blogosphere recently that there may be a new Ghostbusters movie in the works, and there are even quieter whispers that hit comedy machine Judd Apatow may be involved.

The reports spawned from a recent Variety report that Office scribes Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky have been commissioned to write a script for Ghostbusters 3. The duo are also working on Apatow-produced comedy historical comedy Year One, which is being directed by Harold Ramis. And who is he? Just Dr. Egon Spengler in the two Ghostbusters flicks. See the circle there? This coincides with earlier rumors that Apatow might somehow be involved in the sequel, yet Columbia won’t confirm anything about the project.

The sequel is meant to be a present day reimaging of the Ghostbusters team, which would be a completely new squad. In Judd Apatow’s Ghostbusters 3, could you really see Seth Rogen, Jason Segel, Paul Rudd, and Craig Robinson as the new team? You know, I actually can.
