Just Another Recruiting Notch

Just Another Recruiting Notch

Meet Jamaal Berry. Those who have met him on the field have seen him as a flash of lightning or as a truck plowing its way to the end zone.

Berry, ranked the #1 RB on ESPN's 150, was recruited by nearly every program in the country. Jamaal chose Ohio State over such schools as LSU, Florida and Michigan. Berry committed after the Youngstown State game noting Ohio State's family feel and rich atmosphere.

The 5'11", 185 pound high school senior is the highest rated RB recruit Ohio State has had since some guy by the name of Chris Wells. Berry is a world class athlete; he runs the 40 in 4.31 seconds (Ted Ginn could only muster 4.38).

Berry joins an already amazing recruiting class of 2009, one that only Jim Tressel could accomplish. Included in this class will be Justin Boren who transferred from Michigan to Ohio State after realizing he wanted to play for a good team. With the impressive recruiting classes and consistency Tressel has been displaying, it is hard to imagine the Buckeyes ever being out of the top 25. Don't worry about that going unnoticed though. Tressel has been recently given a new deal from Ohio State making him the Big Ten's top earner. The new contract has the nation's best coach locked up through 2013 and a base salary of $3.5 Million.
