If you're like me, you're really, really looking forward to the Super Bowl this Sunday. It's an excuse to get ridiculously hammered and then riot in the streets, something that only happens two or three times a year. But, before you can start burning couches and flipping over cars, you have to figure out where to watch the game.
Obviously, not everyone can be in Tampa on February 1st. Even if you can make it to Tampa, it's pretty unlikely that you're going to get an actual ticket to the game, so you're going to have to find a place to watch it on the teevee box like everyone else. Where you watch the game sets the tone for the rest of the night, so picking the right location is crucial. Here are a couple of ideas (note: as a Steelers fan, I refuse to acknowledge the other team, or where fans of the other team might want to watch the game).
1.) Go to Pittsburgh. Really, anywhere in Pittsburgh will do. The last time the Steelers won the Super Bowl, I was in Shadyside, the one of the college areas in town. Most other people go to the South Side, which is rumored to have more bars per block than anywhere else in America. If the South Side isn't a breeding ground for crazy Super Bowl antics, I don't know what is.
2.) Find a Steelers' bar in your area. I've been to several of these bars all over the place...Joe's on Weed in Chicago is amazing, but there are Steelers bars in every state (who'd have thought that Arizona would have 24 of them?). This website lists 'em all, and is definitely worth a look.
3.) Host your own party. This really should be an option of last resort, unless you like the idea of spending Monday morning cleaning up beer cans and scrubbing puke off of your couch. Then again, isn't that what pledges are for? Haze away!
