Be afraid: Beer pong, every college student’s favorite pastime, can give you herpes. Ok, it actually can’t, but Fox News seems to think so, thanks in large part to a bogus study performed by a faux research group.
You see, the Center for Disease Control recently debunked a fictional, yet popular study that claimed beer pong was linked to a bevy of orally transmitted diseases. However, the CDC’s word apparently wasn’t good enough for Fox News. So, they aired a segment with an “expert” in the field to debunk it themselves.
It seems they failed in their endeavor though, because the segment ended up perpetuating the myth that beer pong is not only morally corrupting college students, but also physically killing them in the process.
Of course, as one of their biggest fans, Stephen Colbert is siding with Fox News on this one. I guess I can’t blame him, because based on Fox’s beer pong set up, the evidence is pretty damning. Too bad no one told Fox that beer pongers use a cup of water to rinse dirt off a thrown ball.
