From the creators of “Jizz In My Pants” and “I’m On a Boat” comes this 80s-inspired science fiction tune about the 3022 Olympics, which, if you haven’t heard already, will be taking place on a distant planet named “Zargon” in the Crab Starfish Nebula.
This SNL Digital Short was first released shortly after conclusion of the Beijing Olympics, which explains Michael Phelps’ brief cameo, but given the very niche content contained within, it failed to take YouTube and the rest of the Internet by storm.
That is a damned shame too, because it’s my personal favorite video from the Lonely Island, the comedy troupe starring SNL’s very own Andy Samberg. I mean what’s not to love about this intentionally bad music video? There’s Samberg in albino makeup and a colonial white wig; plus, a bevy of shoddy special effects that oftentimes make no sense whatsoever.
So, if you were asking yourself: Why does he knock mini-rockets out of the air with his bare hands? It’s because the action of doing so, while incredibly random, is absolutely hilarious. You need no other reason.
Oh, and SPACE SWORDS IS TOTALLY CANCELLED.
