Magic Wars! David Blaine's Dive of Death vs. Criss Angel's Actual Death

It’s on! The two ego-maniacal magician’s have each had their own newsworthy feats in the past day or so, with David Blaine hanging-upside down in Central Park and Criss Angel’s “Mindfreak” finale.

Blain had been plagued with reports that he was cheating in his 60 hour stunt by standing up a few times every hour. His doctors said that he had to to this or he would die, but isn’t that the point of a “death defying stunt”? You probably shouldn’t be frozen in a block of ice either, but he didn’t stop every two hours to go in a sauna did he?

This was all capped off with his much hyped “Dive of Death” on live TV, which just involved him bungie jumping off a 44 foot high platform before being hoisted into the sky by balloons…or a helicopter….or Batman. We’re receiving mixed reports. The crowd mainly booed at the lameness, and Blaine’s latest antics will go down as anything but impressive.

Contrast this with Criss Angel, whose final Mindfreak stunt showed him chained up, in a car, that went over a cliff, that promptly exploded. Ta daa! This sent some (stupid) fans into a frenzy posting MySpace messages on his wall like: “ criss im in tears. r u dead? plz tell me ur not please," and "Criss..You need to have someone let everyone know if your alright!!! I will be devastated if you are dead! :( I love you."

Wow.

Well anyways, regardless of douchebaggery, Criss Angel wins this edition of “Magic Wars!” since he was literally able to convince (stupid) people that he died. And he’s dating Holly Madison from Playboy. Not at all a bad month for Criss Angel .

How can you call it a trick or a stunt if you take numerous breaks and claim the whole time upside down. Blain has done some amazing stunts that pushed the body to the limits, but this one was a flop. He was in over his head (no pun intended) with this trick and couldn't hang. well first of all.. let's take a poll from ADULT magicians and see who wins. Without startstruck females and youth boys, criss would have NOTHING! David appeals to all ages, sex, and race. I heard A magician named Ronn Winter challenged Criss and Criss's team kicked him off his myspace and blocked him, then had every topic on the challenge they could find online removed! i totally agree with this comment above me. Criss can be a great illusionist but as of lately it's been tv editing. Sure the basis of magic is to fool the mind and creat illusions that can't possibly be real but criss has of lately relied on his show's editors. It has become bulshit. As for the "death" please it was taped at least a year ago before airing. The stunt was made to write into his new show "Believe", which has had bad reviews since it's first premier. But that is expected with any Cirque show in the beginning. david blaine isnt doing magic anymore. he tries (and apparently fails) to do lame endurance challenges because his weak tricks look terrible next to anything criss angel does. anyone who thinks blaine is better just doesn't like how criss dresses or hasn't seen what criss can really do. "BeLIEve" in Vegas probably is a sign of the unfortunate demise of the Cirque du Soleil brand.

Saw this awful excuse for a show and was glad it was over! I told all my friends and those on my email list to steer clear away from this pathetic production.

I will be surprised if it does not close before Christmas 2008 - like other awful productions.

Cirque also produced "Wintuk" in NYC during the Winter - their first rip off in 2007. This year, they are offering tickets on TDF.org for under $39 per seat. Sure signs of trouble in Montreal - the birthplace of Cirque. Posted 10/09/2008 12:28 AMReply
