If you’re in the market for a new home, and who isn’t in these lovely economic times, get into the presidential spirit and check out McCain’s old mansion for sale. Arizona State students looking to move off campus, way off campus, should probably take note.
The candidate and his wife no longer live in the sprawling estate, having moved to a luxury condo not long ago. Now that the elections not going so smoothly for them, the owner probably wants to dump it.
The Phoenix New Times blog Valley Fever provides the description of the modest digs located at 7110 N. central Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85020:
This gracious, private residence is gated and secure on a sprawling 2.7 acre estate lot. The home features 15,000 sq. ft., 13 bedrooms, 14.5 baths and 7 car garage. Extensively enlarged and remodeled in Old World design. This home is perfect for a private residence or corporate retreat.
13 bedrooms and 14.5 baths? John McCain: He’s just like us.
And now you can be just like him… if you have around $4.25 million to spare. The house will go up for auction on Oct. 25 at 1:00pm by The Larsen Company. If you want to check out the place before plunking down a few mil, you’ll have to set up a preview by appointment only sometime between Oct. 12 and Oct. 23. And make sure your finances are in order, the highest bidder will have to give the initial $100,000 deposit at the time of the auction.
Don’t worry, though, the McCain’s aren’t super rich for no reason. I’m sure they are donating a couple million to the bailout fund.
