M.I.A.: Female Hip-Hoppers

On the topic of female rappers: ...

For the most part, there aren't any good ones. Missy Elliot, Lady Sovreign, Northern State, M.I.A., Santogold... Ciara? The large majority of female hip-hoppers are "R&B singers," a.k.a. lean, curvy songbirds produced by Jay-Z and Kanye West made for the mold of Top 40 radio stardom. The aforementioned ladies are keeping alive a barely-breathing niche of hip-hop.

This is where I come in. With tricked-out new beats and rhymes such as

"I spit at you slow like Weezy,
Take a breath, breathe easy
I may not be a gangsta but I still ain’t cheesy
Some rappers be sleazy, creepy, and greedy
Hustlin’ for cash and not pride
Well friends, I want to confess, to confide
That my “most played” on iTunes
Sounds less like the streets and more like white tunes."

Nice, right?

Conclusion: Lil' "Dr. Carter" Wayne better get that swagger back to the genre. Fo' real.
