Michael Crichton, an author, producer and doctor, died at the age of 66 yesterday after a battle with cancer.
Crichton is probably best known for writing Jurassic Park and creating the television show ER. Having attended Harvard for both undergrad and med school, Crichton obviously used his medical knowledge in his creations. He was both extremely talented and smart. In addition to being a Harvard alum, Crichton taught as a visiting professor at the University of Cambridge and MIT.
Although he was sick, a statement on MichaelCrichton.net indicates that his death was unexpected. The statement also included a touching tribute:
"While the world knew him as a great storyteller that challenged our preconceived notions about the world around us -- and entertained us all while doing so -- his wife Sherri, daughter Taylor, family and friends knew Michael Crichton as a devoted husband, loving father and generous friend who inspired each of us to strive to see the wonders of our world through new eyes. He did this with a wry sense of humor that those who were privileged to know him personally will never forget.”
Michael Crichton, you will be missed.
