A lot of you still remember what happened to Steve Kampfer, the defenseman for the struggling Michigan hockey team. Rumors swirled that the skull-fracturing body slam that walk-on running back Mike Milano gave him last month was because of Kampfer sleeping with his girl/ ex-girl/ the details aren’t clear. Milano was later arraigned on two charges of assault with up to 11 years of prison if he is convicted (preliminary examination is in two weeks).

A recent story in NHL news, which I usually care very little about, reported that Sean Avery, a center for the Dallas Stars, was suspended indefinitely for the following comment, “It’s become a common thing in the NHL for guys to fall in love my sloppy seconds”. This was in response to an opposing player of that night’s game, Dion Phaneuf, dating Avery’s ex-girlfriend. The sloppy second, I was very surprised to hear, was Elisha Cuthbert. For those who don’t know, she’s the porn star who lives next door, the high school girl you accidentally slept with thinking she was in college and way hotter than anyone Mike Milano may have been going out with. The key thing is, even though Avery has been suspended, he got in his shot and isn’t going to prison.

And how does a comment like that get you suspended indefinitely? Hockey is definitely a Canadian sport (but pulling *ss nonetheless, I’m pretty impressed).
