Nerds Rule: Comedies Take MTV Movie Awards

Nerds Rule: Comedies Take MTV Movie Awards
The MTV Movie Awards, airing June 1st, will be dominated by the dork comedy scene. The ubiquitous "McLovin'" flick, Superbad, received 5 nominations with Juno hot on its heels with 4 nominations.

Juno, dubbed the "witty comedy," drowned in a wave of critical acclaim (actually, there was Juno syndrome named in the DSM soon after its release). The former stripper, turned screenwriter, Diablo Cody fit sharp, slightly angst-riddled cynicism while working in phrases like "surprisingly cavalier" without losing comedic momentum.

Superbad was just plain funny, so it's no surprise the film garnered so many nods from the ever-so-friendly MTV network. In addition to the obligatory movie nominations, viewers have an opportunity to get a piece of the experience. User-generated category "Best Movie Spoofs," allows YouTube-obsessed-college students to make spoofs of popular films this past year. Gather your friends in the dorm room and do your best  Johnny Depp, just upload the juicy clips to www.mtv.movieawards.com.

The MTV Movie Awards will be hosted by Mike Myers this year, it should be an interesting addition to your Sunday evening (admit it, you watched it last year)  -- spring semester is over, what else will you watch?
