Not Sure If You Heard About This One...

You may have missed out on this story, but, fear not.

Maybe you're just coming out of a drunken coma from the weekend.  Maybe you got hit in the head with a shovel, causing short-term memory loss.  Maybe you didn't talk to anyone for the past two days, watch TV, look at a newspaper, turn on your computer, leave your house, check your mail, go to the circus, or ride you scooter all weekend.

If any of those apply to you, you may have missed out on some fairly significant news in the world of professional baseball.

That news, of course, is that Alex Rodriguez while with the Texas Rangers in 2003 tested positive for two anabolic steroids.  Surprise!

A-Rod, cutely known previously as A-Fraud, can now add A-Roid to the list of nicknames he's acquired over the years.  Of course, there's the obvious debate about whether or not this calls into question his future Hall of Fame candidacy.  How many of those 2003 and prior dingers were legit?

On the flip side, he did pass in random testings over the past 5 years and for the World Baseball Classic which has stricter regulations.  So, did he even need to use 'roids?  He was supposed to be the clean superhero to save the game from the cloud that Barry Bonds left.  Looks like that's not going to happen.

I'm a Yankee fan, so while the news upsets me, it doesn't blow my mind.  Nowadays, I could find out Nelson Mandela was on steroids from 1995 to 1999 and it wouldn't really turn my head.

What do I want?  I want all of the 104 names from the list that A-Rod appeared on.  I want all of those names so we can just get over this and move on.  I want to hear what Rodriguez has to say for himself.  An apology, earnest and true, would go a long way.  It worked for Giambi and Pettitte, and I think in time it would work for A-Rod.  We will see.

I hate Alex Rodriguez anyway, so I don't care.

Want to give him the benefit of the doubt, wait to hear what he has to say.

Same as I feel about Barry Bonds.  Great player that didn't need to do steroids, his numbers should pay the price of his stupid decisions.
