Sure you can turn the lights off when you leave the bathroom and stay away from aerosol hairspray, but a new grant for OSU and Oregon State may help you help the environment even more. At least if you’re a scientific researcher.

The World Link reports:

Oregon State University and the University of Oregon have received a $1.5 million grant from the National Science Foundation to create a new Center for Green Materials Chemistry.

 

The schools say research at the new center should lead to advanced electronics with a reduced environmental footprint, higher performance and lower cost.

 

Researchers say that many manufacturing processes for electronic devices are wasteful, sometimes require toxic or carcinogenic materials, and result in high levels of greenhouse gas emissions.

Damn, I hate it when my combustions make the environment go awry! It’s hoped that the research venture goes well, because if so, the NSF may provide an additional $25 million in funding.
