I had a friend in college who bought Smart Balls to keep her hoo-ha tight. They seemed innocuous enough at first— until we realized that the weights inside of them could be heard jingling when she walked briskly. It was like hearing Santa Claus coming to town on the Polar Express every time she was in a rush. After that, she kept her vaginal endeavors to Kegels.
Now, however, a growing trend is emerging: designer vagina. Recently at the Royal College of Obstetricians Gynecologists 7th International Scientific Meeting, Professor Linda Cardozo of King’s College Hospital in London warned against vaginal surgical procedures, especially the labioplasty, which reduces the size of the labia.
According to BBC News, she said:
"Women want to emulate the supermodel. It's part of a trend. But they should know that all surgery can be risky.
"Most of the procedures are done in the private sector and it's totally unregulated… Women are paying large sums of money for this type of surgery which may improve the appearance of their genitalia but there is no evidence that it improves function."
I’m not really sure which kind of supermodel Dr. Cardozo is referring to, unless what she means by “supermodel” is pornstar. Really though, it’s a bit worrisome to spend loads of money and endanger oneself to change the size of something which goes unseen (or maybe not!?) for most of the day.
In contrast to the labioplasty which fulfills no practical function, Dr. David Matlock, a Los Angeles-area plastic surgeon with an MBA from UC Irvine, has developed the G-Shot. The G-Shot, a collagen injection in the woman’s G-spot meant to enhance sexual pleasure, is not yet verified by peer-reviewed trials, but his clients are happy. One, Violet Estrada, told DISCOVER magazine, “I can now have three or four orgasm in a row at one time. My partner once told me that he didn’t have to put any work into it.”
From having jingly genitalia to surgically altering sex organs, women are increasingly looking outside of the bedroom for sex solutions. What ever happened to doing it the good old-fashioned way?
