Ole Miss Is Rolling In The Marijuana... For Research Purposes Of Course

It’s no wonder things are a lot slower in the south. It may just have to do with all the pot.

At the University of Mississippi, there’s a whole facility where marijuana is grown. However, students don’t exactly get to take advantage. What a tease.

Instead, researchers are studying the drug and its potential medical benefits. When cannabis is inhaled, thousands of harmful chemicals enter the body, but somewhere in there is some good stuff. And not just in a “man, that feels gooood” kind of way.

The Daily Mississippian gives us a peak at the findings:

“I think that some people are small-minded and do not see the great potential that cannabis has in providing novel drugs simply because they think of all the negative connotations of marijuana,” Sue Park, a senior pharmacy major who is currently performing research on antidepressant effects of cannabis, said.

According to [Dr. Mahmoud A.]ElSohly, isolated THC is a “good drug” that has the potential to act as an appetite stimulant and to help stop nausea, vomiting and pain associated with a wide range of illnesses including cancer, glaucoma, multiple sclerosis, AIDS, inflammation and anxiety.

Well, we already know that it reduces anxiety. Except perhaps on the campus of Ole Miss, where students are so close to a boatload of pot and yet they just can’t get to it. Stoners must be so anxious they’re jumping out of their Birkenstocks to get the goods.

I heard one time (im a student here) that some LSU guys had a fishing pole and tried to catch some pot. Well, we have an electric fence around it, not to mention DEA snipers. You can imagine what happened. Posted 10/03/2008 01:07 AMReply

Gullible takes on a new meaning.
