There are few Facebook groups that I'll actually waste my time checking on any kind of consistent basis.
But Overheard at IU is definitely one worth checking up on at least once a week whenever a bout of boredom sets in. I mean, case and point:
At the bk in the union, two dumb girls after spotting a seeing eye dog, complete with harness that has a handle on it:
dumb bitch 1: omg, i cant believe they allow dogs in here
dumb bitch 2: i know right, i am SO allergic to german shepherds
dumb bitch 1: some people are just so inconsiderate, they really dont think about anybody but themselves..
This pretty much sums up the intelligence level of roughly 25 percent of girls on this campus. No, it wasn't just you, there really are that many people here who really are that dumb. And this group pretty much proves that point.
I've known about the group for awhile, but last night I decided to do a little research and discovered that IU is not alone.
Several others exist in varying forms online, and it seems like most major colleges have Facebook groups of their own (and if your school doesn't have one yet, you should probably start one).
Another favorite: the original site itself, Overheard in New York. I now officially want to move to this city. And that's saying a lot, because I hate cities. Mostly I just want to go and ride the trains all day so I can hear stuff like this:
1) Conductor, angrily: Yo, stand clear o' the closing doors o' my choo-choo!
2) Conductor: You can switch to the A train across the platform. However, I would much rather you stay on this train.
3) Conductor: We are currently being held in the station because of some other A train ****ing us all over.
OK so maybe wanting to hear statements with comedic value being made by conductors is a poor reason to move to New York. But this is damn funny to read through none the less.
