This week, the No. 6 Nittany Lions travel to Madison to take on the Wisconsin Badgers.
The truth is, this will be Penn State's hardest game all year. The Badgers have a potent offense and their defense has been a tough unit for teams to deal with.
On the offensive side, the Badgers' main man is junior tailback P.J. Hill. He is a quick and tough runner who is en route to registering his third consecutive 1,000 yard season. The Lion defense must act quick and shut this runner down. This is fairly good news considering Penn State's defense has done rather well through out the season shutting down the run game of their opponents.
For Wisconsin, the defense is led by free safety Shane Carter, who led the Big Ten in interceptions last year. However, the rest of their secondary unit is rather thin with Badger safeties Jack Ikegwuonu and Ben Strickland leaving the team and Allen Langford and Aaron Henry bouncing back from knee injuries that occurred during the off season. This unit could prove to be quite the match for Darryl Clark and company. Clark has to play it cool and collected in this game and ignore the Camp Randall crowd and Shane Carter and just go to work on this team.
Even though the Lions are favored to win, the odds are against them. They are playing at Camp Randall Stadium, at night against the toughest opponent they will face all year. And did I mention, the Lions haven't scored a touchdown in Camp Randall since 2002. Top that off with the fact that the Badgers want to win this game because they can still salvage their season with only two losses. Clark and the defense have to be on their best game in this one. All the offense has to do is move the ball effectively like they have been and the defense has to step up and shut down the Wisconsin offense quickly. The Lions better be ready for this one, because the Badgers are out for blood.
