According to Wikipedia, Richard “Digger” Phelps, an ESPN college sports analyst, is pushing 67 years old. Based on this video, however, it’s clear that he has the spirit of a vibrant 19-year-old hip-hop artist trapped within his body.
For the uninitiated, the “Stanky Legg” is a dance popular dance routine in the Dirty South in which an individual hops on one leg and lifts the other like they’re getting ready to do the hokey-pokey. On paper, it sounds simple enough, but it takes a true professional, like Digger, to pull it off with any pizzazz. What I mean by this, of course, is that you should never, ever try it in public, because you’ll almost certainly look like a complete idiot.
Now, I know some of you may argue that this isn’t an actual sports play, so it shouldn’t carry the “Play of the Day” moniker. You're probably right, but I implore you to really think about how impressive it is to have a 67-year-old to perform a contemporary dance step better than anyone you know.
Only then, will you be able to truly appreciate the awesomeness of this clip.
