The key to an amazing basketball dunk is style. Scoring the basket always comes secondary to the lead up—that is, the moves one performs before actually putting the ball in the hoop—prior to reaching the rim. Do you attempt a classic 360 spin? A Jordan tomahawk slam? Or, do you go for laughs with the windmill? It’s all up to you, but remember: failure is always met with laughter.
Apparently, Wyoming’s Adam Waddell missed the memo on when one should perform a dunk trick, because he doesn’t do his prior to reaching the rim; he does it after. I have no idea how this is humanly possible, but Waddell somehow manages to perform a full-body somersault after dunking the ball. That’s right; his body goes into a 360 spin after he lets go of the rim, and he lands on his knees.
Sure, it would’ve been far more impressive if he had stuck the actual landing like a gold-medal Olympic gymnast, but as is, this is still an 8.7 landing with a 9+ dunk. Intentional or not, it’s impressive for a non-dunk contest slam.
Now, let’s see Waddell perfect it, before someone else comes along and does.
