Strange things happened on Halloween: Zombie Sarah Palin rose from her grave, the Joker and his gang robbed a string of banks and a Princeton student vanished without a trace.

Wei Ho ’09 was last seen at Princeton early Friday morning, before he seemingly disappeared from the face of the Earth.

Naturally, one’s first inclination--given the circumstances--is to suspect foul play, but despite Public Safety’s campus-wide alert, Daniel Douglas ’09, Ho’s roommate, believes his long-time friend left the school on his own volition to seek respite from the rigors of academia.

The Daily Princetonian reports:

“We believe that Wei has left the campus of his own volition, and is not in the Princeton area, so we don’t believe there’s anything that can really be done in terms of helping to search for him.”

[…] Andrew Yang ’09, a friend of Ho’s who said he “used to hang out with him a lot during freshman year,” said that he thinks, perhaps, Ho “needed some time off from school just to think.”

“I can totally understand how at Princeton one can get really absorbed in studies. Especially if you spend a lot of time by yourself doing work, it can really get to you and be very overwhelming,” Yang said, describing Ho as very “academically motivated.”

Yang said he hoped that “once [Ho] has some time off to think ... he’ll come back.”

Still, even if Ho’s friends are correct in their assumption, anyone with information regarding Ho’s current whereabouts should contact Public Safety.

Also, if you or anyone else you know is suffering from a college-induced depression, please seek help immediately. Wandering off campus without telling anyone is not a solution.
