Profiles in Badass: 72 Year Old Ex-Sprinter Catches Up with Mugger

Here's something you don't hear every day. A 72 year-old grandmother was robbed of her purse in England this past week, but what the thief didn't know? She used to be a championship sprinter, and that made her one grandma you didn't want to mess with:

She was straight out of the starting blocks again, however, when one of them took advantage and tried to make off with her bag.

Mrs Hirst said: "Suddenly I felt 18 again. The adrenaline just kicked in and I seemed to turn back the years.

"She had a head start but I covered 70 yards in about 15 seconds and was within two strides of her when she looked over her shoulder and saw me.

"She probably thought I was an easy target but she shouldn't have judged a book by its cover. The look on her face was one of sheer amazement and she just threw my bag aside."

Wow, if I was outrun by a 72 year old ex-ANYTHING, I would probably go ahead and start rethinking my career in mugging. I mean, you can't exactly go back to the mugger hideout afterwards. I can imagine that conversation:

Mugger Leader: "So where's the purse man?"

Purse-Snatcher: "I had to give it up, this grandma was CRAZY ridiculous fast!"

Mugger Leader:  "Dude you are so out of the gang."
