"Sex Is Meaningful Like Art, and You Don't Rush Art"

"Sex Is Meaningful Like Art, and You Don't Rush Art"
"How was I," questions Dan sitting up in bed.

"I don't know," replies an indifferent Serena with a shrug.

This is the end of the "sex" commercial in the OMFG  ad campaign for Gossip Girl, the CW nausea-inducing hit television drama. The commercial is serving the message of the upcoming second season as any heroin addict would (or at the very least someone on a couple of hits of acid).

The commercial flashes bits and pieces of the new season with "sex" scenes and the vocals continue loud and clear "sex, sex, sex, ladies, double-time" to drive the message home it's all sex this season. If you enter the main website, this ad is center stage on the television simulation, looping over and over "sex...sex."

Why is Gossip Girl all about sex this season?

The other ads continue the general sex theme, with Blair confessing her bedroom follies to a priest; perpetual sex for all. Tragically, this show has a viewing audience that doesn't have access to sex education, birth control, or condoms.

From what I gather, the Gossip Girl book series is the equivalent of Sweet Valley High or the Baby-sitters Club for young women, thus these are the same girls watching the television show. Yes, I know these kids should be educated at home; let's be serious though you saw the turn out for the papal visit -- 11-18 year olds are not getting the proper advice on sex or sexuality, so they are learning it from Gossip Girl. GASP!

These ads are effective, I'm sure the second season of Gossip Girl will get tons of viewers with the S-E-X message. The bottom line is sex sells; even if it means genital warts for someone else.
