Ahhh Brooklyn: a New York borough of diverse cultural institutions like Brooklyn College, Peter Luger Steakhouse, and now, the Real World. For what feels like season eighty-two of the show, MTV has dropped a bunch of histrionic, emotionally saturated, sociopathic drama queens in BK who are way freakier than the performers at the Coney Island Freak Show.
And from the looks of the trailer, MTV has outdone themselves this time. In the trailer alone there’s property damage, outing, screaming, targeting of trannies, and loads of vintage Real World crying interspersed with footage of the cityscape shot in black and white with words like “Where do you draw the line?” emblazoned on the screen.
The trailer is so brimming with melodrama and feelings and expectation gratification, it’s almost as though MTV is releasing a self-deprecating satire, except, they’re not. The Real World Brooklyn trailer is, well, for real. And it's like MTV has given us a cornucopia of pathos in a few short minutes, just in time for Thanksgiving.
UPDATE: The trailer video has been disabled, perhaps because the entirety of the blogosphere was making fun of it.
