Set the Thriller Record This Halloween, NYU Unite!

There’s lots of ways to celebrate Halloween: getting dressed up, getting undressed, dunking for candied apples, etc., etc. But at the end of the day, what do you have to show for it? A lousy toothache? A slapped ass? You can do better than that!

Why not commit fully to a greater endeavor, a venture of glory and honor and Michael Jackson? Currently a group of saucy Nottingham Halloweeners are attempting to break the world record for the number of people performing the Thriller dance, and well, the Brits must be stopped. This is a war without the need for muskets a la the Revolutionary War but requiring face paint.

The Telegraph reports:

An attempt is being made in Nottingham to break the world record for the number of people performing Michael Jackson's Thriller dance.

They will need more than 1,124 people to break the record set at the Monroeville Mall, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in November last year.

Another attempt on the world record has been made in Times Square in New York, which organisers claimed as a new record but has not yet been verified.

Organisers of Nottingham's annual games festival GameCity are promising to provide costumes, make-up and tuition in the Thriller dance.

Those wanting to take part have to be at the Old Market Square by 2pm on Friday, with the actual record attempt starting at 5pm.

GameCity's festival director Iain Simons said: "We can provide you with a zombie kit, we can train you to walk like a zombie, talk like a zombie, shuffle like a zombie. We'll train you to do the Thriller dance.

"As any self-respecting zombie knows, it's very important that they come together and dance the Michael Jackson Thriller dance because that's what zombies do when they congregate."

Sure that’s a lot of people, but if all of NYU got together to do Thriller, that would be 40,870 zombies. If Columbia did the deed, it would be 24,820. If The New School got in on the action, it would be 8,695. So if you’re feeling a bit bored by the sexy bumblebees, sexy donuts, and sexy Palins...
