In the world of video games, it seems a female villain provides two things: 1) a source of conflict to move the story along, and 2) some eye candy to offset the usual hordes of demons being ripped apart by the male protagonist. And if high school and action films have taught us anything, it's that the naughtiest of girls are usually the ones wearing the least amount of clothing. Here are a few bad girls from video games that have been embraced by the cosplayers with some impressive results.

6. Trish (Devil May Cry)

If someone asked you to picture "a badass blond in black leather," odds are you'd imagine someone much like Devil May Cry's Trish (that or something just plain disturbing). Her backstory is pretty typical as well for a video game: she asks the hero for help, betrays him, and eventually ends up redeeming herself and becoming his partner. It's like something you'd see in an old film noir, if you replaced all the gangsters with blood-thirsty demons and gave the private eye a giant sword. But while Trish may be downright uninspired, she damn well knows how to make an entrance.

5. Ada Wong (Resident Evil series)

In the Resident Evil universe, Ada is a spy apparently tasked with obtaining whatever deadly, zombie-making virus is popular at the time. It's never really explained why she does this, but since this always involves her lying about who she really is and double-crossing almost everyone she works with, it's safe to say she's not exactly a nice girl. Still, none of this really explains why she feels the need to don a formal cocktail dress for all her missions. Did she not have time to put on pants before she was sent to a new place teeming with zombified hordes? Or at least some good sneakers? Under normal circumstances, an outfit like this would turn a few heads, but it's surprisingly tame when compared to the majority of video game costumes people have created.

4. Sniper Wolf (Metal Gear Solid)

Believe it or not, Sniper Wolf was originally intended to be male in the first Metal Gear Solid game. When they decided to change the character's gender though, they apparently just kept the same uniform and undid the top few buttons. In the game she's hyped up as a merciless killer who will wait for days to kill her target, and she later presents one tense and engaging boss battle. It's also through her that we learn Otacon is prone to weepy confessions, seeing as he launches into one when she dies. Besides being a cold-blooded assassin, Sniper Wolf is defined mainly by her inexplicable cleavage and the most suggestive gun in gaming history, which has apparently captured the imaginations of quite a few costume makers.

3. Mileena (Mortal Kombat series)

Originally Mileena was just a carbon copy of Kitana, another Mortal Kombat character. So how could you explain why two characters look exactly alike? Easy, just say that one of them is an "evil clone." Yep, Mileena is basically an evil assassin because it was cheaper than creating a whole new character. Of course, she's evolved since then to sport a more complicated back story, a pair of sais, and one of the most revealing costumes in video games. Oh yeah, and she wears that scarf on her face because her mouth actually looks like that of a shark. Kinda kills the hotness factor a bit, huh?

2. Ivy (Soul Calibur series)

In the Soul Calibur-verse, Ivy is the daughter of another character, Cervantes, an undead pirate who apparently was driven mad by the evil Soul Edge, slaughtered his crew and a whole town, and sails the high seas terrorizing anyone in his path. With genetics like that, Ivy wasn't exactly destined to bring about world peace or even wear pants for that matter. Instead she invented a segmented "snake sword" and set out to do the Soul Edge's evil bidding for awhile, until she had her mandatory redeeming moment and decided to fight on the side of good.

Besides all that though, seriously, just look at her. There are strippers who wear more clothing than she does. Naturally, this means that the Ivy cosplayers out there are among the best.

1. Morrigan Aensland (Darkstalkers)

Morrigan started out in the Darkstalkers games, but most gamers have probably seen her in the Marvel vs. Capcom series -- it's kind of hard not to notice a scantily-clad woman with bat wings fighting Spider-Man. She'd be awesome enough right there, but her story pushes the "bad girl" image even more. While most of the girls on this list have some all-encompassing desire for power, Morrigan wants nothing more than to seduce men and party all the time (she is a succubus after all). This could probably explain why she seems to be a popular subject for a lot of cosplayers out there.
