Star Trek's George Takei Marries Brad Altman, Perez Hilton Goes Soft

For anyone who thinks that Perez Hilton is just a bitchy gossip queen, today we find evidence to the contrary. Hilton, i.e. Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr., has a soft side. In unusually snark-free blog posts, Hilton today wrote gushingly of the marriage of Star Trek’s George Takei (Mr. Sulu) to his longtime partner Brad Altman.

Hilton wrote of Takei and Altman’s wedding:

Congratulations!

Star Trek alum George Takei married his partner of two decades, Brad Altman, in Los Angeles on Sunday…

George proclaimed to Brad, "I vow to care for you as you've cared for me … and to love you as my husband and the only man in my life."

The newlyweds have been outspoken gay rights activists for years. Thankfully, same-sex marriage was recently legalized in their home state of California.

Wedding guests took home Japanese tea-ceremony treats in boxes printed with the Star Trek-esque phrase, "May sweet equality live long and prosper."

Right on and lovely!

Was that sincerity I smelled circulating around Perez? The world really is being set on its heads, from the sale of Merrill Lynch to the bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers to the AIG crisis to Perez getting warm and fuzzy. What’s next? Are we doing to discover that Sarah Palin and Amanda Lepore are buddies? There are few things a girl can count on these days, besides the love of George Takei and Brad Altman.
