Jersey Shore Revisited: Sleazy Guys Edition

Jersey Shore Revisited: Sleazy Guys Edition

After her last outing to the Jersey Shore, OTR editor Lacy Hart vowed never to return. Against her better judgment, she went back over the weekend and returned with a reinvigorated disdain for the region's men.

The last time I went to the Jersey Shore, I had hoped it would be just that. Therefore, I was not too thrilled when one of my closest friends made plans to go there to celebrate her 21st birthday. Just thinking about that night in Belmar was enough to make me cringe. But I put that past me and together, my friends and I headed to Seaside Heights for the weekend.

I have to admit – the beach and boardwalk were fantastic. For the most part, they were clean and people were friendly. Plus, there were so many things to do and eat. Aside from getting fabulous tans, the highlight of our weekend was getting our old-time photo taken as saloon girls.

The clubs, on the other hand, were less-than-fantastic. While the music and energy were great, some of the guys there were so sleazy. At first, I didn’t mind the bumping and grinding since that’s part of the atmosphere. But as soon as they began dry-humping me, I had to get away. I actually pretended to be a lesbian by holding hands and dancing with my one of my friends to try and fend off the guys. Of course it didn’t work. This one guy kept coming back and grabbing my hips and even my hands to keep me from running away. Another guy pulled my face towards his and asked me my name. I simply said, “No hablo ingles.” In all, I was dry-humped at least 10 times.

My friends and I tried to ask the guys nicely to stop dancing with us. We were pretty clear about our desire to be left alone. What part of “no” or “stop” didn’t they understand? Why did we physically have to run away to get away from them? Why couldn’t we enjoy a girls’ night out without guys thinking they could get some?

While this Jersey Shore experience was an improvement from the last time, and I enjoyed the club overall, I did not appreciate the guys giving each other high-fives whenever they scored a dance with one of us, or when one guy tried to get some action by sliding his hand under my friend’s skirt. I even had guys slide their hand under my top as they were dancing with me. I also didn’t appreciate the way some guys would move on to one of my friends after I refused to dance with him.

After a while, my friend and I stepped outside for some fresh air. We decided we didn’t want to go back in so we walked back to our motel for a girls’ night in.
