Generation Y was named the most self-indulgent generation in a recent inter-generational survey conducted by Harris Interactive.
According to Market Watch’s coverage of the survey:
-- A 53 percent majority (including a majority of Gen Y itself) believe Generation Y is the most self-indulgent, followed by Generation X (25%);
-- A 41 percent plurality sees Generation X as the most innovative, followed by Baby Boomers (25%) and Generation Y (22%); ...
-- Gen Y would like to rename themselves the "Internet Generation" (32%). They really dislike being called "Generation Y" or "Millennials";
As a Generation Y-er, I feel the need to go eat cupcakes, mope, and send my friends text messages about how untrue the survey is, or at least how indecent those pollers are to target us. I also plan to start thinking about how to rename my generation, which may take some time, since I’m only somewhat creative. In the meantime, I’ll probably just scour the internet for YouTube videos and do some online shopping.
