While President Bush’s reign is winding down, a group in San Francisco is trying to ensure his legacy lives on. This November, voters will determine whether a sewage plant in the area will be renamed for Bush.
Goodbye, Oceanside Water Pollution Control Plant and hello, George W. Bush Sewage Plant.
Though local Republicans think the measure is a load of crap, the self-proclaimed Presidential Memorial Commission of San Francisco collected over 12,000 signatures to guarantee its place on the ballot. The all-volunteer group says the name change would honor the outgoing prez’s biggest blunders, including the war in Iraq.
Universities are always naming stupid sh*t (pun not intended?) after rich or well-known people, so maybe Bush should try to take control of his image and campaign for his name to be linked to more appropriate buildings and organizations on campuses.
Here are a few suggestions to clean up his reputation and accurately depict his administration’s achievements:
- The George W. Bush Center for Students Who Want to Speak Good And Learn To Do Other Stuff Good Too
- The Bush School of Economics: where ignorance is bliss
- Bush’s Environmental Protection Group: where ignorance is also bliss
- PSCI305: The Bush Class on Conflict Resolution, or at Least Conflict Semi Resolved With Ongoing Fighting and No Withdrawal Soon
- The George Bush Stem Cell Research Facility: no longer in operation
