TCU's Gary Patterson Was Not Hired By Kansas State, Stop Calling Already!

Bob Krause wants you to know he has not hired TCU’s Gary Patterson. The Kansas State athletic director is adamant that the search for a new football coach is still in the early stages.

The heated denial comes after an article published on a Rivals.com affiliate claimed that multiple sources have confirmed the K-State football hire. The article states without question:

Texas Christian University coach Gary Patterson has been hired as Kansas State's 34th football coach, multiple sources have confirmed to GoPowercat.com. Patterson replaces Ron Prince, who was fired Wednesday.

GoPowercat.com has confirmed that K-State has offered Patterson a five-year contract in the range of $2 million per season. Talks between K-State athletic director Bob Krause and Patterson's representatives began in the past two weeks. Initial discussions centered on the K-State graduate's interest in the job and demands to be lured to K-State.

But the Dallas News is reporting that no such hiring decision was made, and Krause is not happy about the report. Since it was published, Krause has been busy playing rumor police:

Krause said he's fielded about 15 phone calls regarding the matter and his e-mail box is exploding. The TCU spokesman said his phone was "blowing up."

His phone was blowing up? His fresh, hip, jiggy athletes must have taught him that one. But at least the rumors have been laid to rest. Thanks for the 411, Bobby.
