So I've been hearing about this Katrina Darrell chick all day who got famous overnight for wearing a bikini to her American Idol audtion. The male judges loved her, the girls hated all over her, but she made it through based on hotness alone.

But is she really that hot? Sure we saw her tan-self in a bikini, but apparently that's not exactly hard to do. Comparatively speaking, will she really be remembered among the hottest AI contestants of all time? Well, she sure as hell didn't make my top 12 list. These girls are the only reason any of the past seven seasons of American Idol have been worth watching.

12. Kellie Pickler – Season 5

Famous for her mispronouncing of seafood and for her post-Idol blatantly obvious boob job, Kellie is quite cute from certain angles. Also, if you have a chance, google “Kellie Pickler Prom Dress.” Cute and innocent my ass.

11. Kristy Lee Cook – Season 7

Kristy Lee was such a tomboy when she started on Idol, it must have taken an army of stylists to get her to look this good. She was a finalist, but her country stylings gave out, and all hotness was eliminated from season 7.

10. Jasmine Trias – Season 3

The little Hawaiian girl with the big voice, Jasmine was particularly memorable back in season 3. I bet she was upset after Barack Obama took her spot as her state’s national hero.

9. Kelly Clarkson – Season 1

Kelly needed the help of a post-Idol stylist to make this list, but she definitely has her moments. Speculation about her weight has been tossed around around, but you know what? She looks great to me.

8. Kristin Holt – Season 2

An often forgotten contestant, Kristin Holt has gone on to be one of the most successful in areas other than music. She currently hosts G4’s Cheat! and the twice weekly segment on G4 X-Play. Also, she’s been on the cover of Stuff and used to be a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader. Quite the resume indeed.

7. Kimberly Caldwell – Season 2

She was a finalist, but eliminated relatively quickly. But she bounced right back, eventually becoming a host on TV Guide and dating Idol winner David Cook. Success!

6. Ryan Starr – Season 1

Season one is a long, long time ago, and it’s hard to remember anyone but Justin and Kelly, but Ryan star was a finalist, and she was indeed hot.

5. Shyamali Malakar – Season 6

Overshadowed by her talentless brother Sanjaya, everyone often forgot how smoking hot his sister was, except when she showed up in crowd shots. And that shot above? She used to work at Hooters. Nice.

4. Becky and Jesse O’Donahue – Season 5

Only one of the twins made it past auditions, and she didn’t make it far, but the O’Donahue twins captivated the nation for a few weeks with their exotic look and that they were well, twins. Everyone likes twins!

3. Katherine McPhee – Season 5

Katherine McPhee undoubtedly was much more talented than George Clooney’s older ugly brother Taylor Hicks, but she lost because she wasn’t exciting enough. And by exciting I mean “didn’t fake a seizure on stage.” She was drop dead gorgeous while on the show, and afterwards kept up appearances long enough to make it into a few magazines.

2. Antonella Barba – Season 6

Antonella was hard and fast proof that being hot could get you very far in the competition. She was a pretty horrendous singer, but made it all the way to being just shy of the top 12, this was thanks in part to a huge photo scandal which featured this picture, along with a few more NSFW ones involving white shirts and fountains.

1. Carrie Underwood – Season 4

Carrie Underwood would have been about #7 on this list when the show was going on, but after she won, she dropped a bunch of weight, got a great stylist and propelled herself from being "pretty" to oh-my-god-I’d-cut-off-a-body-part-to-be-with-her. She’s probably the biggest star AI has ever produced. She’s one of only two winners on this hot list, she’s won Grammys and dated professional athletes. Now that’s a success story if I’ve ever heard one.
