You gotta set the mood. You just have to. You spent your whole Friday night trying to get this girl and she’s finally back in your room. The hard part is pretty much over. The question you need to ask yourself is, “Do I want this girl to come back for another round?” If the answer is no, go all out crazy, forget her name, don’t call her and don’t let her sleep over after you’re done. But if the answer is yes, certain steps need to be taken. She’s been wooed all night, but if she’s going to come back again, she’ll need to be wooed even more. The best way to get it going and keep it going is with the music. You can’t deny music. Woo the pants off this girl and keep the pants off this girl with this well-crafted playlist.
1. Lets Stay Together- Al Green
Start it sweet and slow with this classic. It may come off a bit cheesy at first, but just try to only kiss to this song. It’s impossible. The sum of this song and minimal affection is full-blown intimacy. The beginning is done.
2. Fourth Time Around- Bob Dylan
This one might be ballsy of me. But I’m assuming actual intercourse hasn’t begun yet. If it has, you really ignored the point of the playlist. Anyways, I know every guy dreams of having a movie moment with an attractive girl. This is your chance. Keep it cute; keep it innocent for this song. There will be much more time for the other things. The cheering at the end signifies that you showed enough power to make it to the next song.
3. Let’s Get It On- Marvin Gaye
You cannot have this conversation without talking about Marvin Gaye. You need to throw Marvin into the mix. It’s also important not to start off with him, though. The title’s a little too blatant to be charming. But once Al Green’s done talking about staying together and you’re done being cute with Bob Dylan, she won’t even care that you’re telling her to get it on.
4. And I Was a Boy from School- Hot Chip
This is probably when the good starts getting good. A nice dance beat, soothing vocals—it’s a nice pickup from the cliché picks of Al Green and Marvin Gaye. Keep the beat with this song and you probably can’t miss. It has a nice fadeout ending to which helps the beginning of the next tune.
5. Vultures- John Mayer
I know, I know—it’s John Mayer. But seriously the song is grooving. It’s a nice little prelude to the beginning of the quicker, more passionate songs. And girls love John Mayer, and will therefore love you loving making love to a John Mayer song.
6. Manhattan- Kings of Leon
Do you hear that bass? It begins slow and branches nicely with Al Green and then it gets a little quicker. Caleb Followill’s screams in the chorus should correspond nicely with your activities. It’s sex in the form of music.
7. Crush- Dave Matthews Band
Once again, do you hear that bass? This song is a must and its placement is essential. Putting it after Manhattan allows the sexiness to keep flowing and the eventual craziness to set in. And please do everyone a favor and use the album version—your girl doesn’t want to hear drunk guys screaming, “Dave!” Crush builds quite well and by this time you should be building to a finish, for a lack of better words. I hope you enjoyed it, because it’s almost over.
8. Sex on Fire- Kings of Leon
Climax song. Read the title. Act accordingly. Make sure you’ve finished going crazy by the time this song ends—it would make the slow down portion of the playlist sort of awkward.
9. Weird Fishes/Arpeggi- Radiohead
It’s a sweet song—“Your eyes, they turn me.” After your sex was on fire this is an appropriate way to come down from that high. Hopefully by now you’re back to that Bob Dylan movie phase, but if not you won’t be punished for staying a bit heavy to this song. The ending of the song almost makes you feel like you’re in a trance or a dream—hopefully that’s how your night felt.
10. I Found a Reason- Cat Power
Cat Power’s pretty voice comes out of the confusion that is Radiohead. Now you really need to relax. Lay back with your hands behind your head while she falls asleep on your chest. Replay the night and make sure you don’t forget it. I hope you had a good night and I don’t doubt you’ll be having a round two in the near future. Well played.
