Is it just me or is Dorota, Blair’s loyal housekeeper on Gossip Girl, getting some of the best scenes these days? Apparently the Dorota love is widespread, since show creator Josh Schwartz has announced that she will be getting a special Verizon mobile series all about her.

It’s not all that surprising, though, considering that housekeepers, butlers, maids and so forth hold a prime position on television shows. Politically correct or not, they’ve been important characters for decades and continue to be so. What can we say? Domestic help is hot.

Check out ten of the best:

  1. Alice (The Brady Brunch): She’s the classic housekeeper to which all other housekeepers are measured against. The jokester led everyone to good naturally say “Oh, Alice!”

  2. Tony Micelli (Who’s The Boss?): Because what’s more cool than having a retired professional baseball player as your live-in housekeeper?

  3. Charles (Charles in Charge): What girl wouldn’t want Scott Baio as their babysitter? The college student balanced the rigors of school, a love life and his job while looking pretty damn cute doing it.

  4. Fran Fine and Niles (The Nanny): This show had a double dose of domestic help. While Fran was the new, crazy loud nanny (thus the title), Niles was the smart, witty butler who had served the family for years.

  5. Geoffrey (Fresh Prince of Bel-Air): The Banks butler may seem all English and proper but his cynical side and caustic humor keep the characters in line.

  6. Daphne Moon (Frasier): Daphne plays yet another British domestic helper, working as a live-in housekeeper and physical therapist for Frasier’s father. The quirky and very pretty character wins over Niles who spends much of the series madly in love with her.

  7. Rosario (Will and Grace): The verbal sparring between Karen and her maid Rosario was often more entertaining than any of Will and Grace’s interactions.

  8. John Rowland (Desperate Housewives): Here we have a departure from the housekeeper-butler trend. John was a hot, hot, hot gardener who knew how to get down and dirty and did so frequently with Gabrielle.

  9. Dorota (Gossip Girl): This hard-working housekeeper does it all – from making breakfasts in bed to scanning Facebook so Blair can win a bet. Plus her ringtone is “I’m a Slave 4 You” when Eleanor, Blair’s mom, calls. Awesome.

  10. Lupita (Weeds): Though Nancy eventually has to fire her due to affordability (the economy is rough), Lupita worked hard for her marijuana-growing employer and remained pretty laid back. Coincidence?
