The Golden Globes: 30 Rock, Kate Winslett and Slumdog Millionaire

Ugh, I hate the Golden Globes. They’re not the Emmys, the important TV awards, or the Oscars, the important movie awards. They’re just some awful hybrid amalgam, spilitting things like “Best Picture” into “Best Drama” and “Best Musical/Comedy.” Ah, right I forgot there were only two types of movie genres. I guess Halloween is SOL this year.

The highlights of last night include mainly the three things in the title. 30 Rock won best comedy series, and Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin won best actress and actor in a comedy respectively. Mad Men won all the drama stuff.

Kate Winslett won best supporting actress AND best actress, which is pretty nuts, and it might be the first year she actually seduces an Oscar. Mickey Rourke won best actor and went up there looking all sorts of crazy, but gave a good speech, and Heath Ledger posthumously took it home for The Dark Knight, resulting in a standing ovation. It’ll be more impressive when it’s at the Oscars.
There, I just saved you three hours of your life.
