Yesterday the internet was set on fire by a video that showed a masked pair of teens beating the hell out of a cat on YouTube. Though the video and all its copies were immediately pulled from YouTube, it already made it’s rounds and appeared on the front page of Digg, Reddit and in 4chan forums.

For those of you who don’t know, 4chan’s /b/ is the closest thing the internet has to a gang, and though their normal topics of conversation involve graphic violence and disturbing sex feats, they do in fact ****ing love cats, and when they heard about this, they sent all their legions to reign down on these two animal abusers.

4chan matched the offending YouTube account to another account, identified both perpatrators on Facebook and MySpace by their real names, and then proceeded to post their address, parents’ names and phone numbers on the internet. Immediately the local sheriff was flooded with calls, and one /b/ member actually claimed to have talked to the kids’ mom personally who confirmed that yes, it was her kids in the video and that she was aware of the situation and was dealing with it.

Well, the kids were arrested and the cat was moved to safety. All of this unfolded in under 24 hours, and it marks one of the first time 4chan trolling has been actually used for good. Thanks to them, the cat is safe, and two dumbasses are hopefully going to jail.
