Over the past year, YouTube has been inundated with hundreds of videos encouraging Americans to vote.
Celebrities, politicians and college students each had their say in the campaign process, but only one of their videos made a real difference and rallied millions of disenfranchised voters under Obama’s red, white and blue banner of “Change.”
According to IvyGate, a group of fellow Cornellians wrote and produced the hip-hip video “Snap Yo’ Ballot” (above). Given the song’s “phat beatz,” I think we can all agree that this clip turned the presidential tide in favor of Barack Obama, inspiring the nation’s youth to exercise their right to vote.
In the year 2050, all presidential elections will be decided by an 8-Mile-esque rap battle held in the basement of a Detroit hip-hop club. Until then, we’ll do things the old-fashioned way.
