Xbox 360 stolen, thief leaves Xbox in its place

An Xbox 360 was stolen from the hall government of Foster-Walker Complex and replaced with an older model Xbox, said Asst. Chief Dan McAleer of the University Police.

After a May 11 event, a hall government member locked the Xbox 360 in a closet in a basement room of the residence hall, he told police. When the student returned to closet on May 22 at about 1 p.m., it was still locked, but he found a different Xbox inside.

Only the student and one other hall government officer have access to the closest, he told police.

As the comments on the blotter state, at least this thief had some sort of conscience. I'd rather have an XBox than no XBox at all. And considering several other dorms have had community gaming systems stolen this year, maybe it's time to start upping security a bit more, as someone in the Evanston area really wants several XBox 360s.
