Thirdhand Smoke is Real, Will Kill You, Maybe

Thirdhand Smoke is Real, Will Kill You, Maybe

Because we all need an entirely new reason to be scared of/scorn smoking and those who do it, medical experts have come with a way smoking hurts the ones you love long after the cig has hit your ashtray. Or your linoleum floor. Or your lawn.

The key phrase is “thirdhand” smoke, and it’s the toxic contamination from tobacco smoke that remains after a cigarette goes out, and the poisonous dust that settles onto surfaces and continues to float around in the air.

The study was published in the journal Pediatrics because it mainly affects the kids of smokers, who even if they smoke when their kid isn’t around, they might wake up one day with a growth on their lung regardless.

All this aside however, the study does not push for an in-home mandated smoking ban as some have suggested, merely saying that parents should use their best discretion.
