This Year's Christmas Must-Have: The Obama-Swears-He-Didn't-Buy-It Harmony Ring

The completely trustworthy Daily Mail reported today that Barack Obama, man of the people and total do-gooder, bought his wife Michelle a Harmony Ring to thank her for her support during the election.
 

This Harmony Ring is made of rhodium, a super rare medal, and encrusted with diamonds. The fancy A-list Italian designer Giovanni Bosco has been commissioned to make the bling of all blings. Wait, who? Exactly. Oh and the ring comes with a not-so-recession-friendly price tag of $30,000.
 

Somewhere Sarah Palin is cheering as this hefty purchase makes her slight shopping indulgences look like nothing. I mean $30,000 for one ring!
 

Unfortunately for our girl Sarah, this ridiculous sounding story is just that… ridiculous. The communications director for Obama’s transition team, Dan Pfeiffer, is flatly denying the story saying simply, the report is “not true.” It makes sense… after all what public figure in the national spotlight would be so frivolous with money?
 

For other not-so-public figures who are free to be frivolous with money, I envision the newest item on the Christmas wish-list. Boyfriends beware.
