Tragic Student Death at Penn

This past Saturday at 10:30 a.m., Engineering sophomore Ryan Smith fell from the roof of the Quadrangle (a student dorm) and suffered severe head injuries. Tragically, he passed away at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania early this morning around 3:00 a.m.

According to a Daily Pennsylvanian article, family and friends of Smith do not believe that his fall was a suicide attempt, though it is unclear as to what exactly caused the terrible incident.

This Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., viewings will be held at Hagen’s Funeral Home (15 E. 4th St. in Media, Pennsylvania); the mass will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday at St. Mary Magdalen parish in Media.

Our sincerest condolences go out to Ryan’s family, friends, and all who knew him.
