UNC And UGA Home To Nicest People In America, NYU Not So Much

Want to know the true atmosphere of any city in America? Then check out Cambridge University’s new “personality map” of the U.S., or just rely on stereotypes you already know because it’s pretty much the same thing.

Researchers actually spent six long years conducting an online survey of 620,000 people to find out that, surprise, New Yorkers are neurotic and unfriendly.

Here’s another gem, as reported by the UK’s Telegraph:

American-born Dr Jason Rentfrow, lecturer in social and political sciences at the University of Cambridge, led the study.

He is from Louisiana where, according to his work, people are friendly but have high stress levels.

He said: "Although these are preliminary findings and require more evaluation, they did throw up some striking geographical trends.

Louisiana has been subject to one of the worst storms in recent memory plus they’ve confronted fears of other similarly destructive storms all hurricane season long. If they weren’t stressed, I would be worried.

Want to know how your school’s region stacks up? Well, UNC and UGA students should be proud to say they are home to some of the nicest Americans. Aw shucks, well isn’t that just some real southern hospitality.

Be warned, though. The article states, “Rates of robbery and murder are highest in states populated by people with the openness personality trait such as Columbia, New York, Oregon, and California.”

Hmm, I’ve heard that the state of Columbia is pretty dangerous.
