Virginia Tech Students, Fight For Your Political Rights And Check Out Canivote.org

As if there weren’t enough shenanigans going on during this election just between Barack Obama and John McCain. Now political shadiness may affect you personally, hampering your ability to vote.

In states across the country, bureaucracy, unclear election laws and just plain mistakes have led to the purging of some people’s voting rights. Virginia college students in particular have felt the wrath of the political wrangling, with questions arising over their registration.

Hell, in some states, your T-shirt could even prevent you from casting a ballot. In Pennsylvania, there’s a political fight going on about whether the fashion police poll workers can institute a dress code forbidding political clothing. That means leave the Obama Mama gear back in the dorm. It's less clear how the Colbert '08 shirts will fare.

I know these controversies are a state government situation, but I can’t help but think it’s a diabolical Sarah Palin scheme.

Find out if you’re all set for Nov. 4 by checking out canivote.org. It’s a nonpartisan web site created by state election officials to help voters figure out how and where to vote, no matter what state you live in. It’s better to find out earlier rather than later so that you can have time to kick some state government ass and get your rights reinstated.
