Alcohol Leads To Breast Cancer?

Alcohol Leads To Breast Cancer?

Alcohol. Oh, how I love thee. Too bad it doesn’t like women or their breasts. A recent study conducted at the National Cancer Institute in the United States has found that alcohol consumption may substantially increase the risk of developing breast cancer. Even moderate consumption (one drink a day) could lead to as much as a 35% increase in developing the disease. Wow, just wow.

Now, some of you may say, “Well, I don’t drink booze every day. I’m not an alcoholic, so I must be safe.” Wrong! The study suggests that binge drinking heavily (something we, as college students, are all too familiar with) is just as harmful, if not more so.

“The more you drink, the higher your risk, the relative risk, of getting breast cancer,” researcher Jasmine Lew explained. So, collegiate drinkers, it doesn’t matter how you space out your alcoholic consumption. All that matters is how much you take in at all. Remember that when Thursday night rolls around, kids!

Oh, and if you are a man reading this post with some arrogant sense of immortality, don’t forget that you can get breast cancer too. Frat boys, be afraid.
